Born and raised in North Carolina, having now survived a few winters in Minnesota, residency has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. As a former Division I baseball player, I was naturally drawn to the team approach in the operating room and medicine itself. Interested in medical education and improving surgical outcomes, especially in pediatric patients, I am currently a surgical outcomes research fellow at the Robert D. and Patricia E. Kern Center for the Science of Health Care Delivery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. In addition, given the advancements in artificial intelligence, I am enrolled in the Master’s of Science in Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare offered at the Mayo Clinic School of Biomedical Sciences to learn ways to incorporate emerging technologies into healthcare.
