Steven Papastefan is a research fellow in the lab of Dr. Aimen Shaaban at the Chicago Institute for Fetal Health and Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital. He has completed three years of general surgery residency at Northwestern University, and formerly attended University of Illinois College of Medicine for medical school and Vanderbilt University for his undergraduate studies. He is conducting basic science research on mRNA delivery vectors for fetal gene therapy funded by the NCATS TL1 Multidisciplinary Training Program in Child and Adolescent Health, and translational research developing a novel multiparameter continuous fetal monitoring device for fetal surgery in a lamb model. He will be applying for fellowship in pediatric surgery this fall with the ultimate goal of becoming an academic pediatric surgeon.
