Fabian Doktor MD is currently working as a Graduate Student (Master of Science) at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. He was born in Leipzig, Germany and attended medical school at the University of Leipzig (Germany), University of Bern (Switzerland) and the Memorial University of Newfoundland (Canada). In 2020, he started his residency in the department of pediatric surgery under the supervision of Martin Lacher MD at the University of Leipzig. In 2021, Fabian was awarded with a 95,000USD scholarship from the German Research Foundation (DFG) to pursue a 2-years research fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children under the supervision of Augusto Zani MD PhD FACS FAAP which was extended for an additional year in 2024 (47.500USD). As an aspiring pediatric surgeon-scientist, he has published 14 articles in international peer-reviewed journals (8 of them as a first author) and presented his research at multiple domestic and international conferences including the European Paediatric Surgeons' Association (EUPSA), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), International symposium on pediatric surgical research (ISPSR), European Society of Pediatric Urology (ESPU) and the American Urological Association's (AUA) Annual Meeting. Thus far, his research has been awarded with several prizes including the best oral presentation at the General Assembly of the Division of General Surgery (University of Toronto), the Young Investigator Award of the German Society of Pediatric Surgery (Ilse-Krause Prize), and he was nominated for numerous prestigious awards including the Rosenkrantz award (AAP), the Young Investigator Award Prize at ISPSR twice and the Young Investigator Award Prize Session at EUPSA twice.
