Ana Maria Dumitru, MD PhD, is a surgery resident at the University of California San Diego (UCSD). She matriculated from undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (UNC) in 2010, and went on to attend Dartmouth's MD-PhD Program (PhD- Biochemistry, 2017; MD, 2019). Her doctoral research in the cancer cell biology lab of Dr. Duane Compton investigated regulatory mechanisms for faithful chromosome segregation in human cells. She went on to pursue a post-doctoral research fellowship at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Center for Fetal Research in the lab of Dr. William Peranteau, where her focus has been on the use of lipid nanoparticles to deliver cargo for fetal gene editing in various disease models.
