CAPT (Ret.) Romeo C Ignacio, MD, MS, MPath, FACS, FAAP joined the Department of Surgery at UCSD School of Medicine in 2019 as a staff pediatric surgeon. He serves as the Trauma Medical Director, Director of Clinical Research, and Chief/Section in Pediatric Surgery at Rady Children's Hospital San Diego, the largest Level I children's hospital on the West Coast. He retired from the U.S. Navy with over 20 years of experience and has extensive accomplishments in graduate medical education, global surgery, military medicine, and pediatric surgery. His research interests include pediatric trauma, healthcare disparities, and biliary disorders.
