Brian Craig is an assistant professor of surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He completed medical school at the University of Pittsburgh, general surgery residency at Vanderbilt University, and pediatric surgery fellowship at Lurie Children's Hospital of Northwestern University. His primary clinical interest is pediatric surgical oncology. His primary research interest is to understand how accelerated metastatic relapse may be an unintended consequence of surgery for pediatric cancer. His lab uses a mouse model of surgery to investigate the interaction of surgery and antitumor immunity in cancer progression. The long term goal of this research interest is to gain a mechanistic understanding of how surgery interacts with antitumor immunity to identify novel therapeutic opportunities targeting the perioperative window that could be tested in clinical trials. He is an active member of Children's Oncology Group and the Pediatric Surgical Oncology Research Collaborative, and thoroughly enjoys developing productive collaborations with surgeons and scientists to advance the field.
