Dr. Bindi Naik-Mathuria is professor and division chief of pediatric surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Texas. Born in Kenya, she and her family immigrated to the U.S. during high school. She trained in general surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and pediatric surgery at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, graduating in 2011. Following matriculation, she joined the faculty in the division of pediatric surgery at Texas Children's Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine and served as the trauma medical director of the new Level I pediatric trauma program. She received an MPH from John's Hopkins in 2018. In 2022, she was recruited to UTMB as the division chief. Her clinical interests lie in pediatric trauma and surgical oncology. She is a federally funded researcher in fiream injury prevention and an avid researcher in clinical outcomes. Additionally, she is passionate about global pediatric surgery and improving care for children in low and middle income countries through education and innovation.
