Dr. Bowen-Jallow is an Associate Professor of Pediatric Surgery. She is the Surgical Services Medical Director and the Bariatric Surgery Medical Director at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Prosper. Her goal is to provide state-of-the-art pediatric surgical care for the children of North Dallas. She is driven by the desire to constantly deliver excellent care that is as good or better than anywhere in the world. She considers it her duty to educate her patients’ families on their child’s disease processes and to provide long-term continuity of care, serving as a resource to assist the parents in taking care of their children. Dr. Bowen-Jallow, a Texas native, went through college and medical school in Texas and completed her residency in her home state.
As Chair of the American Pediatric Surgical Association Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Committee, she understand the lifelong impacts of childhood obesity. Her vast clinical and obesity-related research focuses on adolescent behavioral therapy, technology and weight loss surgery, and has resulted in multiple grant awards including NIH fellowships. She has received recognition three times from Houstonia magazine as a Top Doctor in Pediatric Surgery and two times as Best Pediatric Specialist in D magazine in Dallas.
