Pablo Aguayo, M.D. is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Missouri Kansas City, Director of the Burn/Wound Care Programs, Interim Director Trauma/Critical Care, and Director of the Critical Care Fellowship at Children’s Mercy Kansas City. Dr. Aguayo is also a founding member and past Chair of the Pediatric Trauma and Burn Quality Improvement Collaborative (PIQIC); a research consortium of five pediatric burn and trauma centers from the Midwest and the East Coast. He has authored or co-authored over 75 peer reviewed journal articles and 8 book chapters. He received his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2004. He completed his general surgery residency at The University of Kansas Medical Center in 2011. He also completed the Surgical Scholars Program, a one year research fellowship in pediatric surgery under Shawn D. St. Peter, as well as a Surgical Critical Care fellowship at Children’s Mercy Kansas City in 2009. He then finished his pediatric surgery fellowship at the same program in 2014. The majority of his daily practice is in the field of pediatric general and thoracic surgery and pediatric and neonatal critical care.
