Over the last two decades I have been actively involved in cancer research involving various approaches, including non-coding RNA target genes, nanoparticle delivery of small molecules, and viral vectors as novel technologies to address difficult to treat forms of cancer. I have had extensive industrial experience working at Hybritech and Life Technologies Corporation (formerly Invitrogen Corporation), where I was a key scientist developing recombinant vectors for gene expression and cloning products.
I had an excellent education at leading academic institutions such as the University of California San Diego and University of California Santa Barbara, developing skills involved in the research of pathogens and pathogenicity. During my post-doctoral studies at the Sanford-Burnham-Prebys Research Discovery Institute, I learned critical methods and technologies necessary to conduct research in cancer systems (melanoma and prostate cancer). My time at Nemours Children’s Hospital has helped develop these skills with a focus on application, specifically in regard to pediatrics. I believe strongly that our current efforts may offer novel approaches for the treatment of pediatric cancers.
