Casey Calkins is a native of the west coast, and received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1996. He went on to train in general surgery at the University of Colorado and in pediatric general and thoracic surgery at the Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City Missouri. He has been at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin since 2005, where he currently holds the title of Professor of Pediatric Surgery and is the Program Director for the Pediatric Surgery Training Program. His myriad clinical interests include minimally invasive surgery in infants and children, thoracic surgery and congenital lung malformations, pediatric colorectal surgery, and the management of burn and traumatic injuries in the pediatric age group. He currently resides in Brookfield, Wisconsin with his wife Barb, who is a pediatrician, and enjoys traveling in his camper van, all things related to fly fishing, hiking, horse racing, and music.
