Dr. Russell Woo is a pediatric surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive surgery for infants and children. He is a graduate of the Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Woo completed a residency in general surgery at Stanford University as well as research fellowships in surgical robotics and biotechnology innovation. He then completed his subspecialty fellowship training in pediatric surgery at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the USC Keck School of Medicine.
Dr. Woo has been a practicing pediatric surgeon at Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women and Children in Honolulu, Hawaii since 2009, where he currently serves as the Medical Director for Children’s Surgery and the Vice-Chief of Staff. He is an active faculty member of the Department of Surgery at the University of Hawai‘i, John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) where he serves as a Professor of Surgery and the Division Chief for Pediatric Surgery. Dr. Woo also serves as the Chief Academic Officer for the Hawaii Pacific Health Medical Group and the Associate Dean for Clinical Programs at HPH at JABSOM.
Dr. Woo’s clinical interests include general and thoracic pediatric surgery, neonatal surgery, and pediatric vascular anomalies. In addition, he has an active research and teaching program aimed at developing new technologies to improve the delivery of surgical care.
