Dr. Kasper Wang is the Robert M. Filler Chair of Paediatric Surgery, Head of General and Thoracic Surgery at The Hospital for Sick Children, and Professor of Surgery at the University of Toronto Temerty Faculty of Medicine. He is a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University and The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Wang completed general surgery residency at Stanford University and pediatric surgery fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). He subsequently joined the faculty at CHLA and the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, where he practiced the full breadth of pediatric general, neonatal, thoracic, and oncologic surgery for nearly 20 years before moving to Toronto in December 2022. Dr. Wang has published in high impact journals such as Journal of the American Medical Association, Nature Communications, Cell, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Annals of Surgery and Pediatrics in the field of biliary atresia, the most common cause of end-stage liver failure in children. He was a Principal Investigator in the NIH-funded Childhood Liver Disease Research Network. Dr. Wang is a past president of the Society of University Surgeon. He has served on the Pediatric Surgery Board of the American Board of Surgery for six years and is the current chair of the PSB overseeing the certification and continuous certification of all pediatric surgery ABS diplomates in North America.
